WBCS Miscellaneous Services Recruitment Examination 2026: Notification, Eligibility, Syllabus, Exam Pattern & Important Dates

The recruitment will be conducted in three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective)

  2. Final Examination (Written – Conventional Type)

  3. Personality Test (Interview)

Recruitment will be made to several important posts, including:

  • Assistant Child Development Project Officer (ACDPO)

  • Disaster Management Officer / Block Disaster Management Officer

  • Block Youth Officer / Municipal Youth Officer

  • Block Welfare Officer

  • Inspector of Backward Classes Welfare

  • Assistant Agricultural Marketing Officer (Administrative)

  • Assistant Programme Officer

  • Inspector of Agricultural Income Tax

  • Consumer Welfare Officer

  • Savings Development Officer

  • Auditor of Cooperative Societies

  • Assistant Auditor, Board of Revenue

  • Extension Officer & Lady Extension Officer (Mass Education Extension)

  • Investigating Inspector

  • Revenue Inspector
    (and other notified posts)

⚠️ Note: Men are not eligible for the post of Lady Extension Officer.


Pay Scale (As per ROPA 2019)

  • Pay Level 10 (Posts 1–11): ₹32,100 – ₹82,900

  • Pay Level 9 (Posts 12–19): ₹28,900 – ₹74,500

Additional allowances will be applicable as per government rules.


Educational Qualification

Candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or equivalent

  • Ability to read, write, and speak Bengali
    (Not mandatory for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali)

๐Ÿ“Œ Knowledge of Bengali will be tested during the Personality Test for non-Bengali candidates.


Age Limit (As on 01.01.2023)

  • Minimum Age: 20 years

  • Maximum Age: 39 years
    (Born between 02 January 1984 and 01 January 2003)

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST (WB): 5 years

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer, WB): 3 years

  • PwBD: Up to 45 years

Application Fee

  • General / OBC: ₹160

  • SC/ST (WB) & PwBD: No fee

Additional charges apply for online/offline payment modes.


Reservation Policy

Reservation benefits are available only for West Bengal domiciled candidates under:

  • SC, ST

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)

  • EWS

  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (40% and above)

  • Meritorious Sportspersons

Candidates must possess valid certificates issued by competent WB authorities.


WBCS Miscellaneous Services Exam Pattern

1️⃣ Preliminary Examination

  • Type: Objective (MCQ)

  • Total Marks: 200

  • Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

  • Subjects:

    • General Studies – 150 marks

    • Arithmetic – 50 marks

2️⃣ Final Examination (Written)

  • Total Marks: 450

  • Papers:

    • Paper I – English (150 marks)

    • Paper II – Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali (150 marks)

    • Paper III – General Studies (100) + Arithmetic (50)


3️⃣ Personality Test

  • Marks: 100

  • Final merit list prepared based on Final Exam + Interview marks.
